Chiney Ogwumike and Jared Sullinger Named 2010 Naismith National High School Basketball Players of the Year

ATLANTA (March 10, 2010) – Cypress-Fairbanks (Cypress, Texas) High School senior Chiney Ogwumike and Columbus (Ohio) Northland High School senior Jared Sullinger have been named the 2010 Naismith National High School Girl’s and Boy’s Basketball Players of the Year, respectively, the Atlanta Tipoff Club announced today.  Also recognized were Sean Casey (Peddie School, Highstown, NJ) and James “Satch” Sullinger (Northland High School, Columbus, Ohio) as the 2010 Naismith National Girl’s and Boy’s High School Coaches of the Year, respectively.

Mike Glenn Named The 2010 Atlanta Tipoff Club Outstanding Contributor to Basketball Award Winner

ATLANTA (March 10, 2010) – The Atlanta Tipoff Club announced today that Georgia native and former NBA star Mike Glenn has been selected as the 2010 Steve Schmidt Outstanding Contributor to Basketball award recipient. The award is given annually to the individual who has made an outstanding impact on basketball in the state of Georgia.

Women's Naismith Trophy Midseason Candidates Announced

ATLANTA (Feb. 25, 2010) – The Atlanta Tipoff Club today announced the 30 midseason candidates for the 2010 Women’s Naismith Trophy presented by AT&T, and the Big 12 Conference leads the way with five student-athletes, followed by the Big 10, Big East and Southeastern Conference (SEC) with four apiece.  Connecticut, Ohio State, Stanford and Xavier each were represented by two players.

Naismith Trophy Midseason Candidates Announced

ATLANTA (Feb. 24, 2010) – Just three months into the college basketball season, several programs are vying for supremacy as the top team in the nation.  The same can be said for the 30 student-athletes looking to win the Naismith Trophy presented by AT&T after the midseason team was announced today by the Atlanta Tipoff Club.  The Big East conference has seven players on the list, followed by the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) with six. Two schools, Kansas and Kentucky, are represented by two players apiece.

ATLANTA (Dec. 11, 2009) –  Ten high school seniors, including two headed to play college basketball next season at North Carolina, headline the Naismith Trophy Boy’s High School Player of the Year watch list, the Atlanta Tipoff Club announced today.

Atlanta Tipoff Club Names 2010 Preseason All-Metro Team

ATLANTA (Nov. 19, 2009) – The Atlanta Tipoff Club today announced the 60 student-athletes who make up the preseason All-Metro team.  The candidates were chosen through a vote by the Atlanta Tipoff Club’s board of selectors, comprised of leading basketball coaches and administrators from around the region, who based their criteria on player performances during the 2008-09 basketball season and expectations for the upcoming year.
