Atlanta Tipoff Club Reveals Boy’s and Girl’s Early Season All-Metro Teams
Norcross and Buford High Schools top the Atlanta Tipoff Club Boy’s and Girl’s Early Season All-Metro Teams with four players apiece, the Atlanta Tipoff Club announced today.
ATLANTA (Dec. 12, 2012) – Norcross and Buford High Schools top the Atlanta Tipoff Club Boy’s and Girl’s Early Season All-Metro Teams with four players apiece, the Atlanta Tipoff Club announced today. Buford boasts three girls and one boy on this year’s teams, with Norcross placing two of each gender. The Atlanta Tipoff Club Early Season All-Metro Teams feature 25 boys and 25 girls from metro Atlanta.
The Atlanta Tipoff Club’s Board of Selectors will track the progress of all metro Atlanta players throughout this season, and use as a benchmark when determining the season-ending award winners, which include Mr. and Miss Georgia Basketball, the boy’s and girl’s metro players of the year and the 30-player boy’s and girl’s all-metro teams. All of the honorees will be recognized at the season-ending Naismith Awards banquet on Tuesday, March 19, 2013 in Atlanta.
“This list clearly underscores, once again, just how deep Atlanta is in terms of high school basketball talent,” said Eric Oberman, Atlanta Tipoff Club executive director. “We look forward to seeing these players shine during the upcoming basketball season.”

ABOUT THE ATLANTA TIPOFF CLUB
The Atlanta Tipoff Club, an Atlanta Sports Council property, is committed to promoting the game of basketball and recognizing the outstanding accomplishments of those who make the game so exciting. The Atlanta Tipoff Club, founded during the 1956-57 season, has presented the Naismith Trophy every year since UCLA’s Lew Alcindor first won the award in 1969. Old Dominion’s Anne Donovan won the inaugural Women’s Naismith Trophy in 1983.
The Naismith Award has become the most prestigious award in all of college basketball, recognizing the Men’s and Women’s College Basketball Player of the Year, Men’s and Women’s College Basketball Coach of the Year, as well as awards for outstanding achievement in high school basketball, officiating, and contribution to the game.
